Employment & Training Services
Job Placement and Training
Job Placement & Training is designed to provide Tribal Members with Job Skills training specific to their training needs and to provide full time-long term job placement. The Career Development Staff will work with the Tribal Member to identify the needs in areas of job skills training through their Career Development Plan. Completion of the training period would produce full time long term retention by the contracted employer.
Career Exploration
Career Exploration positions will be designed to meet the specific needs of the individual Tribal Member. Tribal members will work with the Career Development Staff to complete a Career Development Plan. This process will include a variety of assessments and informational interviewing to identify a possible career path. Completion of Career Exploration will lead to Vocational Training, Higher Education Opportunities, or Job Placement. This experience will be provided in the form of an On-the-Job-Training or Job Shadowing position.
Work Experience
Work Experience is designed to assist Tribal Members with obtaining the required or necessary work experience hours for their specific career. Previous education and/or training certifications are required to be considered for a Work Experience position. Apprenticeship positions will require extended training agreements.
Vocational Training
This program will provide training and certifications that develop a Career and that lead to comprehensive occupational achievement. Vocational Training is described as a Certificate/Degree Program in which training does not exceed 24 months. Training Centers must be accredited institutions. Applications must be completed at least 30 days prior to the start of training.
Summer Youth
The KIC Summer Youth Program is designed to provide KIC Tribal Member Youth with a meaningful job experience where they will obtain job skills and training that will prepare them for their future Career. Youth will attend an Orientation with classroom training that will build a foundation of job related skills that will benefit them in obtaining future employment. Youth ages 14-18 must be KIC members and reside in our service area.
